Mrs. Atha Page Diprima, age 84, of Florence, Alabama, formerly of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015, after a year- long illness.

Mrs. Diprima was born to Edith and William Haskin in Haines City, Florida, on August 21st, 1930. She was raised primarily in Rome, Georgia, and graduated from Girls High. Shortly after graduation, she married Leonard Joseph Diprima, who predeceased her in 2003.

Following Dr. Diprima’s retirement, the couple moved to Florence in 1999.

Mrs. Diprima was a dedicated member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. Florian, Alabama. She was active in Loaves and Fishes and she was a member of the Altar Society at St. Michaels. Mrs. Diprima was one of the first recipients of the Angel Award given by the Altar Society. This honor is given to a senior woman of the church for outstanding service through the years. Each year she participated in the Christmas Giving for the Sisters and Priests of Cullman. She was also a member of Beta Sigma sorority and the Red Hat Society.

As well as a loving wife and mother, Mrs. Diprima was a talented interior decorator and flower designer. She was well-known for her kind and giving spirit and was a woman of great compassion. Never one to criticize, she chose to offer support and encouragement to family and friends. By example, she taught her children the values of family, friendship, loyalty, and forgiveness. She faced this year of illness with great courage and gratitude towards those who cared for her. Special memories of her will be forever imprinted on the hearts of those who loved her.

Mrs. Diprima is survived by her children: daughters Marguerite Lam{Charles}, Anne Norvell{William}, Denise Luebke, and son Leonard Diprima{Dawn}; grandchildren David Norvell{Brandy}, William Norvell, Erin Lam, Jessica Luebke, Hope Moeck{Matt}, Evan Diprima and Abigrace Diprima; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Khloe Norvell.

Special thanks to friends and neighbors who kept her spirits up by faithfully visiting and calling. The family also thanks Elder Care and Alacare for their incredible support.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Jacob Amos, OSB on Monday January 19th at 11 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church. The Rosary will precede the service at 9:30 followed by visitation.
