FLORENCE-In 2022 Arts Alive celebrates its 35th festival in historic downtown Florence, Alabama. During the third weekend in May (May 21 and 22), Wilson Park will come alive with artists. Presented by the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts Volunteers, Arts Alive features two juried venues: a gallery exhibition and an art market in the park. Artists may apply to participate in either venue or both venues.

Show hours Saturday 9AM until 5PM and Sunday 10AM until 5PM. The gallery exhibition at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts opens May 20 and closes June 24.

The Arts Alive Gallery Exhibition is located in the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts complex located across from Wilson Park. Selected works are displayed for a month and are judged for awards in technique, style, and expression. A gallery preview party opens the weekend with a ticketed event on Friday, May 20, 2022.

On Saturday and Sunday Wilson Park will transform into one of the largest art markets in the southeastern US featuring the region’s foremost artists. Up to 100 juried artists utilizing various mediums sell their work from colorful booths. These artists are also judged for awards by qualified jurors.

The purpose of Arts Alive is to raise money for the sponsorship of workshops and scholarships for art teachers and students in northwest Alabama. Your participation in Arts Alive aids in the promotion of arts education.

The festival is committed to eliminating barriers and is dedicated to the inclusion of artists and patrons of every race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression or identify, distability status, religion, and socio-economic background.
