FLORENCE – Every Spring, since 1987, the City of Florence hosts the Arts Alive Festival. And every Spring, a new original-art poster is created by a local artist.
So, today the Florence-Lauderdale County Tourism Office held a media event and showed off this year’s winning poster. It was created by Arab, Alabama artist Courtney LeSueur who is a University of North Alabama graduate.
The poster was unveiled by Michelle Rupe Eubanks, Chairman for Arts Alive, and Allen Tomlinson, of No’Ala Magazine which Sponsored the art contest.
Arts Alive will be held this May 16 and 17 in Wilson Park in Florence and at the Kennedy-Douglas Art Center just across the street from the park. Arts Alive is a project of the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts volunteers. It attracts hundreds of arts and crafts lovers from throughout the Southeast. The festival showcases artists specializing in painting, stained glass, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, fiber art, woodwork, photography and more.
