Artie Mae Shands Stricklin was born in Waterloo, Alabama on February 10, 1938 the daughter of the late Cecil and Vernie Lois Cossey Scott.
On September 2, 1956 she was united in marriage to Henry Shands, who preceded his wife in death on November 7, 1993. On June 5, 1995 Artie Mae was united in marriage to Gene Autry Stricklin, who preceded her in death on February 21, 2017.
Artie Mae worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Angelica Manufacturing. She also worked as a beautician for 12 years. Artie Mae was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed life and being around people, especially her children and grandchildren. Artie Mae was very close to everyone at Park Rest Nursing Home.
She departed this life on Friday, April 29, 2022 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Artie Mae is survived by her children, Margaret McFall of Lutts, Tennessee and Daphne Armas-Perez of Lexington, Alabama; grandchildren, Wesley McFall, Brent McFall, Nick Stokke, Joey Highland, Brittney Anderson, and Chris Elzey; great-grandchildren, Anderson Stokke, Thomas Stokke, Aubrey McFall, Mason McFall, Ava McFall, and Ryan Highland; sisters, Annie Lou Wilder of Savannah, Tennessee and Martha Nell Staggs of Decatur, Alabama; and brother, Jerry Scott of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Shands, one daughter, Becky Shands, one sister, Mildred Scott, and two brothers, Billy Scott and Wilburn Scott.
