QCDNEWS-Representative Ed Henry (R-Hartselle) stated on Wednesday, March 30  he intends to carry Articles of Impeachment against Governor Robert Bentley to the House.

He says he will pursue impeachment based on “incompetence and moral turpitude.” He says Governor Bentley can no longer fulfill the duties of his office, because of the recent scandal involving an alleged affair with his Senior Political Advisor Rebekah Caldwell Mason.

The House acts as a kind of “Grand Jury” and is the first step in trying to ascertain if there is enough evidence to impeach the governor.

If the House approves it will then go to the Senate where the evidence is again reviewed.  If the Senate approves then Impeachment of the Governor is enacted.

To  impeach the House and Senate must have a simple majority vote, 51% of the members of the House and Senate respectively.
