Arthur Wade Beard, age 85, of Scottsboro, Alabama, passed away on September 15, 2021, at Highlands Medical Center. Arthur was born in Scottsboro, Alabama, on February 25, 1936, to Johnnie and Luther Roy Beard. He married the love of his life, Glenda Hess, in 1954 and was a 1955 graduate of Jackson County High School. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958 and worked at the First National Bank of Scottsboro for 40 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Arthur was President of the Jaycee’s, and member of the Scottsboro Lion’s Club. He was extremely passionate about golfing, hunting and fishing with family and friends and was admired by the many young men he coached in little league baseball, football and basketball. He was a devoted and avid Alabama football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Roy and Johnnie Beard, brother’s, Lester Roy, Elbert and sisters Ruth, Eunice, Ethel and Jane. He is survived by his brother Wayne. He is also survived by his wife of 67 years Glenda Hess Beard, daughter Tami Beard Smith (Woodson), son Arthur Todd Beard (Marilyn), grandchildren, Alexandria Lee Vandagriff (Daniel), Arthur Rankin Smith (Heilie), Arthur Todd Beard, Jr and Turner Estes Beard. He had 4 beloved great grandchildren, Branham, Brier Wade, Ellison, and Everson, along with several nieces and nephews.
