Arthur Lee Payne, 73 of Arab Alabama, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Marshall Medical Center North.
Mr. Payne was born January 9, 1944 in Ocoto Nebraska to Elsworth Payne and Blanch Martin Payne. He was a 1962 graduate from Kearney Nebraska High School. Mr. Payne worked in the newspaper industry until his retirement. He and the former Nancy Ann Goodwin were married for 38 years. He enjoyed playing ball in his younger years, loved working cross word puzzles and created them as well. He also enjoyed telling jokes and spending time with friends and family.
He was a member of New Brashiers Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife of 38 years: Nancy Ann Payne; his children: Clinton Payne, Bobby Payne, Brian Payne, Sharon Turnell and Valerie Ortiz; his brothers: Eldon Payne, Cecil Payne and Bill Payne and several grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 15, 2017 at New Brashiers Chapel United Methodist Church with Brother: Mike Shirley officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
The family elected cremation with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel assisting.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Brashiers Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund.
