DECATUR-After almost a month the Decatur Police Department has made an arrest in the home invasion that took place on January 28th of this year. Here is how the Decatur Police describe the incident:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On the night of January 28th, 2014 Henry Hokett was woken by a knock at the front door of his residence. When Hokett answered the door, two armed white males forced their way into the residence and assaulted Hokett. Hokett required medical attention, which he received at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was treated and released.
During the burglary several guns and money were taken. One of the offenders threatened the victim and his family with bodily harm if the police were contacted. During the incident one of the offenders also fired a single gunshot into a TV monitor that was inside the residence.
Due to the threats, Hokett waited approx. 2 days before he filed a report with the Decatur Police Department. This case was forwarded to the Violent Crimes Unit. Detective Burleson was assigned the case and began an investigation into the events of that night.
During the course of the investigation Detective Burleson was able to identify Matthew Lyle Bond and Stephen Joshua Garrison as the offenders in this case. Detective Burleson obtained warrants for both individuals for the charge of Burglary in the 1st Degree. Detective Burleson met with Morgan County Circuit Judge Jennifer Howell who set their bonds at $100,000.00 each.
On the night of February 18th, 2014 Garrison was located at Decatur Morgan Hospital and taken into custody. He was booked into the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of bond.
Units with the Decatur Police Department began a search for Bond but were unable to locate him. Today, February 25, 2014, after a lengthy manhunt involving numerous Detectives, Bond turned himself in to the Decatur Police Department. He was arrested and booked into the Decatur City Jail and will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of $100,000.00 bond.”
