Arnold Anthony Bennett, 85, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at his residence. Family will receive friends Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery.
Arnold was a coal miner by necessity, but in retirement he was the proud owner and operator of Arnold’s Shade Tree Garage and Orange-Peel Paint Shop. Even though he only had a ninth-grade education, he was a learned man who always had questions. To answer his questions, he taught himself how to use a computer at the age of 85. He enjoyed his family, his garden, his cars, and his swing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Bennett; parents, Emmett and Annie Bennett; siblings, Dovie Ashby, Lillian Pulliam, Ruby Pulliam, Dorothy Burgett, Edward Bennett, Eunice Beck, Pearl West, George Bennett, Orby Bennett, and Lajoy Tubbs.
He is survived by his children, Arnold Anthony Bennett II (Scarlett) and Vicki Shannon Bennett Duer (Steve) ; grandchildren, Jacob Bennett (Amy), Sarah Bennett, Sam Bennett (Amanda), Grace Duer, and James Duer; great grandchildren, Emmett and Winona Bennett; and siblings, Ann Frye (J.W.) and Ruth Walker (O’Dean).
