Arlene Marie Johnson of Huntsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the company of her immediate family. Mrs. Johnson was born on July 31, 1934, in Jackson, Michigan, to Sylvia (Merrill) and Albert Domschot. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1952 and cheered at Jackson Community College. In 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Johnson, to whom she remained married until his death ten years ago, and together, they raised three children in Huntsville, Alabama.

Mrs. Johnson was a room mother, little league mother, dance mother, cheer mother, dance team

mother, committed coffee drinker and dedicated neighborhood walker, who brightened the days

of all who met her. In mid-life, she worked as a special education teacher’s aide at East Clinton

School, and she fully embraced her role as grandmother, cheering on the next generation. She

and Mr. Johnson were longtime members of Epworth United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, Kerri Johnson Riley, Jerry F. “Jay” Johnson, Jr. (Karen), and

Cindy Johnson Seeley (Paul), all of Huntsville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, July 25, at Laughlin Service

Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, July 26, at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
