Archie Glendon Parker, 87 of Toney, AL passed away on August 14, 2023 at Hospice care of Huntsville. He was preceded in death by his father James Hershel Parker, mother Ollie Spann Parker and his sister Dorothy Parker Gilliland. Son-in-law Larry F. Ivey and grandson Joshua Kyle Parker
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Leathy Donell Parker, their 3 children, Deborah Parker Ivey, Terry Parker (Linda) and Rene Parker Boice. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, brother Douglas Parker (Judy) as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was known by many names such as Sugar, Daddy, Poppa, and Parker. He loved to hunt and fish and he was skilled at many jobs over the years. He moved his family to Huntsville from Nashville Tn in 1964. He worked in heating & air conditioning for many years owning his own business for awhile. He then worked as a truck driver hauling carpet for James Carpet until he retired in 2010.
He enjoyed all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He attended Slaughter Road Church of Christ for many years before moving to Toney Al. and then started attending Chase Park Church of Christ with his family. Brothers Rusty Hills and Sam Kachelman will officiate.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 4:00 pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
