COLBERT COUNTY-The Colbert County Tourism has listed events taking place in the area for the month of April.  There is something for everyone.  Check it out:

Pop! The Art of Comics
March 18 – April 29, 2023
Explore the process and legacy of comic book and sequential artwork. The exhibit features original illustrations of Christopher Hanther, who worked for Marvel Comics and illustrated the long-running comic Tandra, original and printed comic art by members of the Mid-South Cartoonists Association, rare and vintage comics from local private collections, Japanese wood block prints from the TVMA permanent collection, illustrating the predecessors of manga comic art. Get free admission to this exhibition by showing your receipt from Superhero Chefs in Tuscumbia. Get one free admission per meal on your receipt.Exhibition hours: Tuesday-Friday 9 am-5 pm, Saturday, 10 am-5 pm. Admission: $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for TVAA members.

 

Paintings by Yuri Ozaki & Stacie Thomas
March 18 – April 29, 2023
Enjoy the watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings of Yuri Ozaki and Stacie Thomas, two artists with studios in Lowe Mill in Huntsville, AL. Exhibition hours: Tuesday-Friday 9 am-5 pm, Saturday, 10 am-5 pm. Admission: $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for TVAA members.

 

Historic Tuscumbia & Sheffield Saturday Walking Tours
April 1, 8, 22, & 29, 2023
Each Saturday in April, free guided walking tours of historic districts take place in Sheffield and Tuscumbia. Led by knowledgeable guides, the historic tours travel past structures that date before the Civil War. Tuscumbia boasts one of the state’s best collections of antebellum structures, and Sheffield offers Victorian and Craftsman-style homes and structures. Tuscumbia tours will depart from Coldwater Coffee, and Mercantile and Sheffield tours will depart from City Hall. Admission is free.

Doctors, Lawyers, & Such
April 1, 2023
Doctors, Lawyers, & Such is a vocal/string band performing eclectic hits from the 1970s through today’s contemporary classics. This show is a benefit for the Tennessee Valley Art Association, which runs the Ritz Theatre and the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art.

 

Muscle Shoals Centennial
April 21-24, 2023
The celebration activities will start on April 21 and continue at various locations through the 24th. On Saturday (April 22), the amphitheater will feature a concert. See individual event information below.

Avengers: Endgame Film Screening

Easter Egg Hunt

April 14-15, 2023

Muscle Shoals Birthday Tribute with Billy Lawson and Wishbone Band
April 23, 2023
Music lovers from across the world (seriously) will gather at Champy’s to celebrate with a special tribute concert featuring Billy Lawson and the Wishbone Band. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be a true celebration of the rich musical history of the Muscle Shoals region.

 

Swampers 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run
April 29, 2023
The 19th Annual Event benefits the Shoals Civic League. Runners may pick up their packets on Friday, April 29th, from 4:30-6:30 PM or Saturday morning at the Muscle Shoals Middle School Gym. All runners will receive a t-shirt, and all 5K finishers and kids 12 and under in the 1 Mile will receive a custom finishers medal. This is a 2023 RRCA Southern Region 5K Championship event.
