April passed away on June 1,2023 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital due to
complications from an infection from cancer.

The following was written by April for her family:

I was born and raised in Jackson, TN where I lived for most of my life. I was a math teacher,
for 25 years and also owned and ran a tutoring center for 12 years.
My biggest treasure was my family.

To my husband and best friend, Thomas Giles Richey-I could not have found a better partner.
You made my life complete. You were the perfect loving, devoted and patient husband. I
will love you forever.

To my parents Hugh A. and Martha Lynn Rice – I was blessed with wonderful parents.
Thank you for the wonderful job you did raising me. I learned so much from your example.
I treasure you for the love and support through the years. Love you both more than I could.
ever show.

To my brother Jeff Rice and sister-in-law Jennifer Rice – I am so proud of you and all you
have accomplished. _You were my little brother, but I looked up to you and admired you. I
always have and always will love you.

To my father-in-law Thomas Richey, sister-in-law Kathy MacDougall and her husband Kirk –
I was welcomed into your family with open arms. I never felt like an “in-law”. Instead, I felt
like family from day one. I love you and our precious relationship.

I also leave behind nieces and nephews Austin MacDougall, Duncan MacDougall, Anna
Daugherty, Mclane Daugherty, Nova Rice, Lydia Rice, Darcy Rice, and Charlotte Rice. I am.
also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, especially Laura Rushing who was
like a second mother and Jennifer Ellis who was like a sister. I also leave behind my loving.
furbabies Buddy and Bella.

I was preceded in death by my mother-in-law Lucy Richey. She was so wonderful to me. I
knew I was loved, and I hope she knew how much I loved her. And last but not least, my
furbabies Flirt, Kisses, Junior, Joey, and Lydia.

I did not fear death. My only regret was no longer being able to be there to help friends.
and family. I love you all.
