COLBERT COUNTY-Colbert County will be kicking off the spring season with a an event-filled April. Here is a calendar of events that you can enjoy during the month of April in Colbert County.
Tuscumbia walking tours
Walking tours to showcase the history of downtown Tuscumbia will be held on
Saturdays in April.
The free tours, that are organized by Colbert County Tourism and Convention
Bureau, begin at 10 a.m. from outside Cold Water Bookstore, 101 W, Sixth
Street. The tours, that will be led by John McWilliams, are on April 4, 11,
18 and 25. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and dress
appropriately for the weather that day. The 90-minute walks will include a
break for program on the history of the town.

The April walking tours are a part of an Alabama Tourism Department
initiative and will take place throughout the state.
Sheffield walking tours
The history of Sheffield will be the focus of a series of walking tours on
Saturdays in April. The free tours, that are organized by the Historic
Sheffield Commission, will begin at the Sheffield Municipal Building, 600 N.
Montgomery Ave., The tours start at 10 a.m. Jimmy Austin will lead the
walks.
The April 4 and 18 walks will concentrate on the historic homes along
Montgomery Avenue north of City Hall. The April 11 and 25 tours will focus
on businesses along Montgomery Avenue south of City Hall. The walks will
last about 2 hours. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and dress
appropriately for the weather that day.

Crappie Kids Fishing Rodeo
A Crappie Kids Fishing Rodeo will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 11 at
Riverfront Park, 1000 Alabama Ave., Sheffield. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
The rodeo is free to all children 12 and younger.
The young anglers must be accompanied by an adult and provide their own
fishing tackle. Anglers will fish from the bank and can use live bait.
The youths will compete in two divisions, ages 0 to 6 and 7 to 12. Trophies
will be awarded to the top anglers in both divisions. There will be numerous
door prizes, including rods and reels. Lunch will be served to participants.
The fishing rodeo is being held on conjunction with a Crappie USA fishing
tournament on Pickwick and Wilson lakes April 11.
All participants in the kid’s fishing rodeo will be eligible to win one of
six $1,000 college scholarships that will awarded at the Crappie USA Classic
to be held later this year in Kentucky.

Crappie USA fishing tournament
Many of the nation’s top crappie anglers will be in Sheffield, Saturday,
April 11, when the Crappie USA Tournament Trail visits Pickwick and Wilson
lakes.
The tournament, presented by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, will be based out
of Riverfront Park in Sheffield. It is sponsored by Colbert County Tourism.
Clarion Inn Hotel in Sheffield is the host hotel for the tournament. For

The tournament weigh-in will be held at Riverfront Park, 1416 Alabama Ave,
Sheffield, AL 35660. The weigh-in begins at 3 p.m. April 11. The weigh-in is

King Kat catfish tournament
The King Kat Tournament Trail, presented by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s,
will make a stop on Pickwick and Wilson lakes Saturday, April 18. The
catfish tournament, sponsored by Colbert County Tourism and Convention
Bureau, will be based out of Riverfront Park in Sheffield.
