Annie Ruth Zirbel Dorning, 87, of Athens, passed away on Monday, August 16th, 2021, at her residence. Mrs. Dorning was born on August 10th, 1934, to William Fredrick Zirbel and Annie Raby Zirbel.
Mrs. Dorning is survived by her daughters Patsy Sims (Joe) of Athens, AL, and Teresa Chaney (Don) of Athens, AL; grandchildren Shane Garner, Eric Garner (Grace), Colton Dunnavant (Jessica), and Teri Crouch; great-grandchildren Brayden Cothren, Braylee Crouch, Levi Garner, Cheyenne Garner, Emery Garner, Brantley Garner, and Fergus Dunnavant; sister Elizabeth McCown (Alfred) of Athens, AL; and sister-in-law Annette Zirbel of Athens, AL.
Preceded in death by her parents William and Annie Zirbel; husband William Arnold Dorning; brother Edward Zirbel, and Howard (Sonny) Zirbel, and sister Jean Powers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorning will be Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Sardis Springs Baptist Church, with Tim Keenum and Anthony Zirbel officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, at 10:00 to 11:50 a.m. at Sardis Springs Baptist Church. Pallbearers for Mrs. Dorning are Shane Garner, Eric Garner, Brayden Cothren, Stanley Zirbel, Levi Garner, and Freddie Zirbel. Burial will be at Sardis Springs Cemetery.
