Funeral Services for Mrs. Annie Oleen Swancey Brand, age 84 of Ashland, will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Alan Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at the Heflin City Cemetery.

Mrs. Brand passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at her home. She was born in Clay County, worked briefly at the Clairmont Springs Hotel before moving to Cleburne County. She married her husband, Melvin, and worked at the Schenelle Sewing Factory in Heflin. She also worked for Russell Mills and Higgins Sewing Plants respectively until she retired. Mrs. Brand enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making quilts in her off time. You would often find her reading the Clay Times Journal every Wednesday, attending yard sales to find those good deals, and baking sweets, candy, Divinity, and other delicious foods for her family. She also was fond on of her plants and flowers. Mrs. Brand was a blunt, but sweet woman. She knew how to discipline, yet was a loving caretaker for her Son Charlie Ray after his accident. She was a member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church and was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Sister to many.

Mrs. Brand is survived by two daughters: Sheila Nelson (Terry) of Goodwater and Sandra Upchurch (Wendell Waldrop) of Ashland; 8 grandchildren: Jody Brown (Stacey), Jason Brand (Melissa), Jeremy Brown (Nicole), Jared Brown (Jamie), Kasey Clark (Adam), Kayla Garcia (Jeremy), Brittany Swancey (Dontavious Hardy), and Brandon McClellan; 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Denny Irvin (Dora) of Lineville; her brother in law, John Campbell of Andalusia, plus a large extended family.

She was precede in death by her parents: James Thomas and Lilllie Vester Mae Nichols Irvin; her husband, Melvin Swancey; her son, Charlie Ray Swancey; her daughter, Sherry Swancey Brown; two sisters: Lena Hughes and Carolyn Campbell; two brothers: Earl Irvin and Manon Irvin.

Active Pallbearers will be Jason Brand, Adam Clark, Jeremy Garcia, Austin Boyett, and Dontavious Hardy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Evan Clark and Caylex Woodruff.

Her visitation will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
