Annie Mae “Ann” Walker Fuqua, 90, died December 15, 2022, at Huntsville Hospital.

She is survived by a brother and three sisters; her son, Joe Fuqua and wife, Glynis; daughter, Debra Fuqua Randolph and husband, Buddy; grandchildren, Tyler Fuqua and wife, Allison, Hannah Fuqua Harrison and husband, Jon, Mary Claire Fuqua Lalane and husband, Charlie, and Joe Randolph. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren.

The oldest of seven children of Heron Luther Walker and Annie Eugene Rowell Walker, she was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia on November 8, 1932. She moved to Huntsville with her husband, Walter, and children in 1962 when Walter began working for NASA.

Active in her church, she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed all types of crafts and sewing including embroidery and beading. She was also an avid reader and liked science fiction books. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and was always eager to spend time with them. During the last stage of her life, she was blessed to live in a very special home, Inisclee In-Home Care in Hampton Cove, where she was cared for and loved.

Visitation will be from 2:00-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21st, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Mark Smith officiating. She will be buried next to her husband of 61 years in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Ann had great interest in and supported two boys’ homes in Peru that provide care for abandoned boys. The organization that operates these homes, Not Forgotten, was founded by her grandson, Tyler.
