Annie Burton Pollock, 89, of Arab died Monday, October 30, 2023 at lakeshore Senior Living in Guntersville, Alabama surrounded by her love ones and her caregivers. Mrs. Pollock was born on February 6, 1934 in Belfountain, Mississippi to Clara Hood Burton and Winfred Knight Burton. She was married to George E. Pollock for 65 years.
Annie was a 1953 graduate of Central High School and Jackson Commercial College in Jackson, Mississippi. Annie moved with her family to Arab in 1963 when her husband began to work for the Army at Redstone Arsenal. Annie loved Arab and North Alabama and called them Gods Country. She was a devoted follower of Christ serving Him through her church activities at Arab First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, Girls GA, and Girls Acteens and served on the benevolence and outreach committees. Annie had a civil service career retiring as an Executive Assistant from Redstone Arsenal in 1996 with 18 years of service.
Annie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family dearly and made sure their needs were met. Annie love to read, especially from God’s words and religious books. She loved to travel with family and friends, visiting many places in North America, Europe, Hawaii, New Zeeland and Australia.
Family left behind to cherish their memories of Annie are: husband, George E. Pollock; sons, Steve Pollock (Cathy) and Jay Pollock; daughter, Christy Pollock; grandchildren, Valerie Grabowski (Joe) and Victor Pollock (Kayla); great grandchildren, Brynlie Pollock, Carter Pollock, Kye Brooks Pollock, Joshua Grabowski and Jordan Grabowski.
Preceding Annie in death are: parents, Clara and Winfred Burton; brothers, Lamar Burton and Lloyd Burton; sisters, Derline Atkins, Katie Lorelle Ross and Oneta Burton.
Services for Annie will be on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00. Brother Glenn Stewart will be officiating. Interment will be in the Arab Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers escorting Annie to her final resting place will be: Steve Pollock, Jay Pollock, Billy Griffin, Greg Motes, David Rathman, and Dale Cox.
