Mrs. Anna Margaret Fanning, 95, of Scottsboro passed away peacefully Saturday December 12, 2023 at Highland Health and Rehab Center with loved ones by her side. She was born in Shelby, NC. and attended Garner Webb college in North Carolina, Al. She retired from Redstone Arsenal and was recognized many times for her Civilian Service. She was a member of New Hope Global Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and created beautiful cross-stitch masterpieces for her friends and family. Her quick wit made you smile. She loved to decorate and rearrange furniture. She loved her pets: Missy, a sweet pup who died years ago, and her cat, Kitty. Mrs. Ann also gave generously to many charitable organizations and causes.

Mrs. Fanning is survived by her step sons, Richard Fanning (Debbie) and Thomas Fanning, step grandson, Robert Fanning (Mary Leigh); step great grandchildren, Koltyn Harbin, Konnor Harbin, Jerimiah Fanning, Jacob Fanning, Joseph Fanning and Johnny Fanning; Cousins, Sissy Greene (John), Lara Ervin and Brad Greene and her special friend Carolyn Mary May and “her girls”. She was preceded in death by her First husband, Frank Brown and second husband, Tom Fanning; parents, Bill and Bobbie Newton; step granddaughter, Sharon Fanning Harbin and great granddaughter, Anna Ruth Fanning.

The Funeral Service will be Wednesday December 13, 2023 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Re. Donna King officiating. The visitation will be Wednesday December 13, 2023 from 11:00am till 1:00 pm. The burial will be in Gross Cemetery.
