Anna Joy Gates, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Pinnacle in Oxford. She was born August 17, 1942 to Clay Lydell and Eunice Gullick Williams. Anna Joy was a member of West Heights Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and being outdoors.
Services will be on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Juston Gates officiating. Burial will follow at West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Mitzi Sewell (Sammy) and Juston Gates (Amanda); one sister, Phyllis Hooker; a brother, Danny Williams (Daphine); five grandchildren, Jonathan Shae Gates, Elizabeth Klaire Gates, Caleb Gaines Gates, Gabriel Lindsey Sewell and Leah Madelyn Gates and one great-grandchild, Logan Shea Gates.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Juston Gaines Gates, Sr.; and two brothers, Mike Williams and Jerry Williams.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Gates, Shae Gates, Lynn Hooker, Chad Williams, Cru Williams and Jeff Williams.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 P.M. and from 10 to 11 A.M Saturday at the funeral home.
