Anna Rhea Lacey OwensAnn Owens, a resident of Decatur, AL, was born on December 2, 1942 in Alpine, TN and passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 31, 2024 at NHC Moulton while recovering from knee replacement surgery.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Decatur Church of Christ with Alan Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.

Ann was born to Gilbert Lacey and Rillie Smith Lacey in Alpine, TN and in her late teen years, she moved to Tampa, FL to live with her aunt and uncle. A few years later she met Gene Owens while working at a restaurant. They were married on July 16, 1960 and moved to Decatur in the early 1960s. Ann was a devoted mother to her children, and also worked at several part time jobs through the years.

Ann professed her faith in Jesus as Lord and was baptized on July 22, 1975. She was a longtime member of the Austinville Church of Christ – now known as Decatur Church of Christ. She was an excellent cook and kept a clean and tidy home. She loved reading her Bible as well as other books. She took great joy in quilting and spent much of her time creating quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards with a group of dear friends and in recent years also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gene Owens, of Decatur; children, Tony (Diona) Owens of Jasper, AL, Karen (Billy) Burden of Sedalia, MO, Randy (Celia) Owens of Columbia, TN, and Kendra (Erich) Robinson of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Marcy Yoder, Shelby Pate, Emily Andrew, Anna Lange, Jake Owens, Courtney Moore, Zack Burden, Spencer Robinson, and Parker Robinson; twelve great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Faye) Lacey of Spillville, IA, Richard (Nancy) Lacey of Guttenberg, IA, Joe (Glenda) Lacey of Ridgeway, IA; and sister, Linda Sorenson of Rifle, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Decatur Church of Christ.

Shelton Funeral Home assisted the family.
