Ann Elizabeth Schrimsher, 85, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday. Ann spent many years teaching children of various ages as a classroom teacher, elementary librarian and a high school librarian. Her teaching career took her many places. It started in Cullman County, moved to Huntsville, Okinawa, Japan, Bamberg, Germany and back to Huntsville. One of her greatest joys was in getting to plan the library for J. O. Johnson High School as it was being built and then serving as librarian there until she retired from Huntsville City Schools. She retired a second time from Westminster Christian Academy to enjoy life and travel. Ann also enjoyed the many friendships she formed in Alpha Delta Kappa, the Twickenham Study Club and Madison United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sisters, Mary Gooch and husband, Charles, and Betty Smith and husband, Sam; nephews, Doug Gooch and Wes Smith and wife, Carla; four great-nieces; two great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with the Rev. Mike Edmondson and the Rev. Bobby Ray Halbrook officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
