Ann Clementine Reid Killen, also affectionately known as “Annma,” “Grandmother Oh My Darlin’,” and “Aunt Clemmie,” passed away on August 30, 2022, at the age of 90.

Ann was born September 6, 1931, in Vina, Alabama to Eva and Julius Reid. At a sock-hop, her freshman year at Florence State Teachers College (UNA), Milton, her husband of 68 years, was swept off his feet by her brains, beauty, and charm. He then moved her, and eventually their three children, around the world during his career in the Army which took them to over ten assignments stateside and overseas.

Ann had a wide social circle and was a well-loved member of every community she graced. After retirement and before her return to Alabama in 2018 she and Milton lived in Huntsville, AL, Longmont CO, and Lewisville, TX. She left many good friends in every city. She was a dedicated Army wife, Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, community volunteer, gracious hostess, wonderful cook, collector of antiques, bunny figurines, and treasures from her many travels and her children’s various craft projects. She almost always won the family’s favorite card game, “May I?”, though no one could exactly figure out how. Until four weeks ago, she could solve “Wheel-of-Fortune” before any contestant. She knew that every road trip required a big box of Cheez-Its and a book of crossword puzzles. She and Milton loved to cruise, visiting every continent in the world on over forty excursions.

Ann was predeceased by her husband, Milton Stribling Killen Jr, her sisters Julia Dell Goodwin and Joy Reid and brother Robert Reid. She is survived by her children Melinda Haines, Murfreesboro, TN, Reid Killen (Karleen), Huntsville, AL, and E’lyse West (Glen), Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Jesse Bornemann (Eric), Sewanee, TN, Parker Hall, Midland, TX, Andrew Killen, Phoenix, AZ, Lucianne Killen, Denver, CO, Anna Reid Hall, Claire and Jack West (all of Huntsville, AL); and two great-grandchildren, Hank and Eleanor (“Ellie”) Bornemann. She and Milton had many beloved nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services, for the family, will be at Florence City Cemetery, Florence, AL.

Ann’s family would like to thank their many friends for their support, Elenenh Hall, and the wonderful caring staff of Redstone Village Skilled Nursing. Should you desire, contributions may be sent to Still Serving Veterans, 626 Clinton Ave W STE 200, Huntsville, AL 35801.

Our beloved Mother was a true Southern lady who was loving and kind and “worth far more than rubies…” (Proverbs 31). She instilled in us the worth of family, fortitude, love of travel, and strong values that have served us well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
