A funeral service for Ann Alexander Qualls, age 87, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Bro. Charles Abernathy, Bro. John King, and Mark Clark. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. Private interment will take place at Qualls Family Cemetery in Linden, TN.

Ann was born on November 24, 1936, in Brentwood, TN, to the late Earl Daniel Alexander and Martha Louise Williams Alexander. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1954, earned her degree from David Lipscomb College in 1958, and obtained her master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 1960. On September 9, 1961, she married Amos Eugene Qualls, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage, until his passing in 2014.

A dedicated educator, Ann taught home economics at Oklahoma Christian College, the University of Alabama, the University of Maryland, and Fairfax High School in Virginia. She was a devoted Christian, teaching Sunday School for over 53 years. Ann served as the director of the Mothers Morning Out Program at Rockville Church of Christ in Maryland and has been a longtime member of Washington Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville, TN. Together with Gene, Ann opened their hearts to others, caring for 11 foster children. Ann was the former owner of Sissy’s Antiques.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Michelle Angenette Qualls (Michael) Shell; her grandchildren, Alexander Shell, Anna Shell, and Ian Shell; her sister-in-law, Sue Alexander; and her nephews, Eddie (Tanya) Alexander, Eric (Sharon) Alexander, Greg (Brooke) Alexander, and Jeff (Cami) Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, as well as her brothers, William Luther Alexander, and David Lynn Alexander and his wife, Elaine.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape, 4555 Trousdale Drive, Nashville, TN 37204, or Washington Street Church of Christ, Honduras Mission Fund, PO Box 324, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
