On May 21st, 2023, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Anita L. Manning, passed away after a short but severe illness. Anita was born in Moorhead, Minnesota to Cad and Anita Heacock.

Anita lived in Auburn AL, Opelika AL, Homewood AL, Pinson AL, Fairhope AL, and Huntsville to name just a few places she called home during her adult life. She also lived in Arizona and Georgia during her youth.

Anita worked many years as a loan officer at a credit union in Birmingham AL, and later in Fairhope AL in the same position. She eventually found herself back in Huntsville where she worked as receptionist for several insurance firms.

She will always be remembered for her caring heart and her enjoyment of life. Her smile and funny sense of humor will be missed. She was a beautiful lady inside and out, as was apparent to everyone who met her. Anita rarely uttered an unkind word, had deep faith in God, and loved those around her.

Survivors include husband, Frank Manning of Huntsville; daughter, Kimberly Stark of Trussville; son, John Penn of Fairhope; stepdaughter, Teresa Manning of Meridianville AL (David Kleis); grandson, Amos Kleis; stepdaughter; Margaret Hildebrand of Kathleen GA (Trey); granddaughter, Savanna Carr; grandsons, John and Joseph Hildebrand; stepson, Will Manning of Bonaire GA; granddaughter, Miriam M Stark; grandson, Jonah A Stark of Trussville AL; and grandchildren, Amber Burford, Ashlee Langham, Dorian Penn, Jaxon Penn, and Chloe Penn of Fairhope AL.

Anita’s memorial service will be held at the Church of the Nativity, 208 Eustis Avenue, Huntsville AL 35801 on June 1st at 10 AM in the Chapel. The Rev. T. Michael Goldsmith will be officiating. Anita’s cremains will be interred on site immediately following the service.
