Mrs. Anita Glynn Griggs Kelley was born on June 14, 1935 in Waynesboro, TN to her father the late Cecil Griggs and her mother the late Mary Lou Blackburn Griggs. Mrs. Kelley spent her childhood surrounded by the beauty of Waynesboro, TN, enjoying all the wonderful nature of the area has to offer. She would graduate high school from Wayne County High and meet the love of her life Mr. Walter (W.S.) Kelley. The two would marry in 1962 and spend their life together traveling as Mr. Kelley worked in various locations throughout his vocational years. She was a dedicated wife throughout their marriage working in the garment sewing industry throughout the world until settling back to her hometown of Waynesboro. She was known for her kindness and caring for others, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Mrs. Kelley was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Waynesboro and in her leisure time she enjoyed collecting antiques and angel figurines. Anita G. Griggs Kelley passed peacefully from this life at her home in Waynesboro, TN surrounded by her loved ones making her stay on this earth some 89 years, 8 months, and 19 days.
She is survived by her daughter Gindy Singh and husband Jabar of the Dominican Republic; grandchildren Tiffany Singh and husband Guillermo of the Dominican Republic, Jabar Jai Singh and wife Liza of Colombia, Ashley Singh and husband Manuel of the Dominican Republic and Hanut Singh also of the Dominican Republic; great-grandchildren include Jabar Hanut Singh, Mikaela Singh, Guillermo Hernandez, Sebastian Hernandez, and Emma Singh; sister Barbara Kelley of Waynesboro
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Walter (W.S.) Kelley and her sister Louise Melton.
Grave side services will be held at the Waynesboro Memorial Gardens Wednesday March 5, 2025, at 2:00 pm with Jerry Robbins officiating. Visitation with the Kelley family will begin at 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation, LLC chapel in Waynesboro.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jabar Singh, Jabar Jai Singh, Hanut Singh, Orbie Ray, Casey Jones and Gene Vetetoe.
