Andrew “Q.B.” Laney – Obituary

andrew-laney-obituary (1)Mr. Andrew “Q.B.” Laney of Cloverport, Tennessee departed this life Wednesday evening, July 9, 2014 at his home. He was 94 years, 4 months and 6 days old.

Mr. Laney was born in Hardeman County, where he lived all of his life, on Wednesday, March 3, 1920. His parents, who preceded him in death, were Thomas Edward and Velma Irene Pippin Laney. On Monday, September 9, 1940, he was united in marriage to the former Lorraine Tedford, who survives. He was very active and worked as a farmer until 4 years before his passing. He was also a fisherman and avid hunter. He was a faithful member to the Cloverport Baptist Church, which he helped build and for which he raised the steeple, for 57 years.

In addition to his wife of 74 years, Mr. Laney is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Nowell of Pickwick, TN, and Peggy McKinney of Lakeland, TN; a son, Joe Laney of Toone; a brother, S. W. Laney of Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren, Greg McKinney, Mike McKinney, Mark McKinney, David Nowell, Kristy Knoche, Shane Laney, Penny Garner and JoAnna Frame; ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alba Tena Derryberry; and a brother, Woodrow Laney.

Donations made in memory of Mr. Laney may be sent to the Cloverport Baptist Church.
