Amy C. Mays Profile PhotoAmy C. Mays of Haleyville was called home to eternal rest on Monday Oct. 16th at 6:18pm.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville where the service will be held at 2:00pm. Following the service, Amy will be laid to rest next to her lifelong love, Clefus Mays in Whitehouse Cemetery. Vance Hutton to be officiating.

Amy was born Aug. 5, 1931. Amy was a wife, homemaker, and mother of five children. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed singing, birdwatching, sewing, reading, and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Riley and Della (Poore) Hill; husband, Clefus N. Mays; her beloved daughter, Susan M. (Mays) Waldrop; brothers, John E. Hill, and Dallis C. Hill Sr.; sisters, Eulene Benefield, Dorthy Harris, and Reba Raper.

Amy is survived by her sons, Paul S. (Erin) Mays and Tommy D. (Leatha) Mays; daughters, Karen E. Howard, and Sharon A. Mays; six grandchildren, Lori Vanderbundt, Daniel Mays, Andrew Mays, Kevin Mays, Stephanie Pimentel, Jamie Mays; 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great- grandchildren; brother William M. Hill and sister Deborah Jones.
