Amma Quay McCoy passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Ms. McCoy was born Thursday, January 3, 1946 to the late Edward and Jewel Knighton Melton. Amma was a lifetime member of Farmington Baptist Church and enjoyed her gospel music. She was a retired factory worker from Quebecor Inc. She spent her days watching “Days of Our Lives” and her evenings working crossword puzzles or playing Solitaire. Time spent with her late husband Charles and her family were her finest moments.
Ms. McCoy was preceded in death by her husband Charles McCoy; her parents; one brother Eddie Melton; a son-in-law Dickey Reed; two brother-in-law Myers Holley and Harold McCoy; two sister-in-law Betty Holley and Peggy Hamlin.
Ms. McCoy is survived by her daughter Sunya Reed; six grandchildren Brian Reed (Ashley), Colton Reed (Tiffany), Chase McCoy, Chelc McCoy, Kreed McCoy, and Sydney McCoy; five great grandchildren Mason Peterson, Paisley Reed, Victoria Reed, Kimberlyn McCoy and Charley Kayte Reed; one sister-in-law Mary Smith (Neal); a cousin Sue Knighton; special friends Larry Steen (Carolyn), Paul Erb (Nancy), Crystal Edwards, David Lovelace and Amanda. The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Kindred Hospice Staff.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service in her honor held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 beginning at 1pm in the afternoon at McPeters Funeral Directors Inc. with Bro. Larry Lancaster officiating. A nighttime visitation for friends and family will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 beginning at 5pm in the afternoon until 7pm in the evening and from noon on Wednesday until service time. McPeters Funeral Directors Inc. are in charge of the arrangements.
