AMHOF To Celebrate Black History Month With Gospel Music Event

amhof logo 250x250TUSCUMBIA-The Alabama Music Hall of Fame will present its First Black History Month event “Celebrating Gospel Music,” at 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 8 at Muscle Shoals High School Auditorium.

From Mega Stars like Nat King Cole, Percy Sledge, Dinah Washington, Sun Ra, Candi Staton, Martha Reeves, Wilson Pickett, Eddie Floyd, the Commodores and the Temptations, to behind- the-scene geniuses W.C. Handy, John T. “Fess” Whatley and William Levi Dawson, Black Alabamians have made exceptional contributions to the American Culture of Music.

“During Black History Month, the Alabama Music Hall of Fame wants to showcase some of the great gospel music of the area.” said AMHOF Director Dixie Griffin.

gos impPerforming during the show will be The Gospel Imperials and Shaun Moore and Friends of Huntsville, Aaron Freeman and Company, Rev. Shaun Rainey, and The Miracles of Joy from Florence, the St. Paul Gospel Choir of Russellville, Rev. Jerry Reeves and The Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of Leighton, and The Southside Church of Christ of Rogersville.

Tickets are $10.00, $8.00 for seniors, $4.00 students, under 6 are admitted for free. shaunTickets are available at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, 617 U.S. 72 West in Tuscumbia, or by telephone at 256-381-4417.

All proceeds will go to fund the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
