TUSCUMBIA-The Alabama Music Hall of Fame held a grand opening of their completely renovated gift shop on November 13th, 2020 from 10:00am-4:00pm. This project started in March, and has been an exciting experience to share with all of their visitors. The museum decided to work with all local contractors on updating the flooring, lighting, and custom built displays for merchandise. With the museum being built in 1990, it has been thirty years since there were any changes to the original design of the shop. They have filled the gift shop with all new merchandise including music themed books, toys, and instruments for children of all ages.
“The new store has a little something for everyone! We have fun new trivia games, apparel, novelty items, and
even a complete section just for Christmas.” – Sandra Burrough, Executive Director.
A few special touches have been added to the area including large print photos from the current Dick Cooper exhibit placed throughout the gift shop. Artist Shawn Doughty’s hand drawn collage featuring highlights of the museum is also hanging above a section dedicated to the merchandise with his artwork.
The museum is offering free admission and refreshments all day to visitors touring the Shoals and hope to have locals and returning guests stop by as well. The Hall of Fame will also be launching an online store where anyone can shop from anywhere! People can find the link on our website www.alamhof.org.
“One of our main goals was to make this gift shop the perfect place for tourists to take a little bit of Alabama music home with them. It was also important for us to offer locals a go-to place to find the perfect gifts for any occasion.” – Sandra Burroughs, Executive Director.
