Amelia “Mickey” Hendrix Smith, age 99, of Harvest, AL, formerly of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL. She was a native of Five Points, TN, retired from Salant & Salant and owner of Shoe Town. She was also a member of Flatwoods Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae and Hattie Stout Hendrix; her husband, Clifford T. Smith; and four siblings, Willie Hendrix, Leon Hendrix, Orpah Hendrix, and Clarence Hendrix.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita Newton (Robby) of Harvest, AL; two grandchildren, Amy Newton Sain (Nathan) of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Josh Newton of Harvest, AL; and two great-grandchildren, Raegan Lea Sain and Owen Davis Sain.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 19, 2023, with Tracy Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Kidd Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to Flatwoods Freewill Baptist Church.
