Miss Amanda Jane McDonald, 36, of Muscle Shoals, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 31, 2012. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Monday at Valley Grove Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with burial at Oakwood Cemetery of Tuscumbia. Brother Greg Beasley and Brother Larry Wright will officiate. Amanda was a native of Muscle Shoals where she attended Muscle Shoals schools and Arc of the Shoals day program. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church where she was saved at the age of ten and baptized by Brother Larry Wright. She was the beloved daughter of Doug and Mary Jane McDonald and sister of Angela Counts and husband Thomas. Other survivors include her grandmother, Nona Pate; uncles, George R. Pate, Johnny L. McDonald, and Bobby McDonald; aunts, Carolyn Pate and Betty McDonald Clendenon and husband Shawver; cousins, Jackie McMurtrey, Tonya Sockwell, Brandon Crittenden (Sonya), Tina Powell (Ronnie), Lindsay McDonald DiTullo, and Johnna McDonald. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hogan and Lou McDonald and William Pate; uncle, Pete Pate; and cousin, David Clendenon. Pallbearers will be members of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Valley Grove Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the many people who invested so much into Amanda’s life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Arc of the Shoals.
