Alvin Lee Holt of Collinwood, TN was born July 17, 1918 in Wayne County, TN, the son of the late Sam and Annie Hollander Holt. He was united in marriage to Bertie Rich Brewer on November 4, 1988 and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2001.
Mr. Holt was a retired railroad worker and had worked as a custodian at Collinwood School. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Holt departed this life on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 94 Years, 3 Months, 5 Days.
He is survived by sons, David and Dwight Holt; daughter, Carolyn Holt; step-daughters, Martha Atwell and Maureen Ingle both of Collinwood, TN; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Silas Holt of Collinwood, TN; sisters, Iva Dean Daniel and Evelene Hollander both of Collinwood, TN and Thelma Jean Daniel of MI;
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Holt was preceded in death by a step-daughters, Willa Mae Gilchrist and Irma Ruth Crowder and sixteen brothers and sisters.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Tim Hanback officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.
