Alvin Howard Kolak – Obituary

Mr. Alvin Howard Kolak, age 80, a resident of Franklin, passed away Thursday evening, November 30, 2017 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2PM at Christ United Methodist Church: 508 Franklin Road, Franklin, TN 37069 with visitation from 1-2PM on Saturday at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on May 5, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, Al was the son of the late Bruce Kolak and the late Evelyn Renhack Kolak. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan and was a veteran of the Air Force Reserve. Al worked in Executive Management for the IRS and retired as the District Director in 1995. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin. In his younger years Al was an avid hockey player. He also enjoyed bird watching and traveling, especially to St. Augustine, Florida.

 

He is survived by his son: David Kolak of Columbia, TN; daughter: Kathryn (Bob) Baker of Collierville, TN; brother: Gerald (Robert) Kolak of Traverse City, MI; and grandchildren: Abigail Baker, Elyse Baker, and Natalie Kolak.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Sandra Kolak; and brother: Charles Kolak.
