Alvin (Gene) NixonAlvin Eugene Nixon (Gene), born on August 7, 1964, in Tampa, FL, passed away on December 13, 2024, peacefully at home in Hartselle AL, at the age of 60. Gene embodied a larger-than-life presence anyone who ever met him could never forget. As a lifelong mechanic, Gene’s hands told stories of dedication and passion. When he wasn’t enmeshed in vehicular ventures, Gene was out camping or cruising along life’s highways on his beloved motorcycle, the wind carrying whispers of freedom through his veins. To those lucky enough to know him, Gene was a beacon of light with a smile that could transform a day, a heart brimming with kindness, and a laugh that echoed in the souls of those around him. He lived and loved wholeheartedly, with warmth that was simply irresistible. Gene’s joyous spirit found its greatest fulfillment in his role as a grandfather. Madison, Bella, Rowan and Jacob, each shared a uniquely wonderful bond with their pawpaw— memories painted in laughter and love that they’ll carry forever. Surviving Gene are his daughters, Terra Pittman and Tiffany Nixon, his father Larry Nixon (Shirley), and his brothers, Tony (Stacey), Jamie (Jenna) and David. Preceding him in this heavenly journey was his dear mother, Bettie Spear. A celebration of Gene’s vibrant life will take place at a later date, a time meant for laughter, stories, and remembrance. His family extends an immense thank you to Affinity Hospice for their unending love, compassion and care, which they so generously bestowed upon Gene and his family during this journey.
