Alton Dean Mitchell, 72 of Dora, passed away Nov. 5, 23 at his residence.
He was retired from the Jefferson County Public Works Department after 30 years of service. He loved to fish and was an avid Alabama football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Grace Mitchell and his brother, James William Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Martha Mitchell; his son, Brian Mitchell (Sally); grandchildren, Emma and Nathan; several other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday Nov. 9, 23 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Bruce LeVan will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm.
