Alton ‘Al’ D. Elliott III, 63, died peacefully Saturday in Huntsville. Al is survived by his wife, Renee Chandler Elliott; children, Pleasants Pollard Elliott and Hill Alexander Elliott, both of Huntsville; stepdaughter, Jennifer Paige Grelier, New York City, New York; mother, Anne Pollard Elliott Conner, Huntsville; siblings, William Pollard Elliott (Carol), Huntsville, Eleanor Cecile Martin, Birmingham, and Lida Anne Elliott (Leah Bishop), Ft. Collins, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father Alton Doran Elliott, Jr.
Al was born in Huntsville to Alton D. Elliott Jr. and Anne Pollard Elliott. He attended Sewanee Military Academy, and then graduated from Huntsville High in 1973. Al attended Jacksonville State University, studied Business Management and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.
Al moved to Guntersville in 1977 and began working in the family business, The Guntersville T.V. Cable Company and later was President/General Manager. He then moved to Huntsville and founded Professional Security Systems which became the premier residential and commercial security and audio/visual company in North Alabama for over 35 years. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity.
“Big Al” enjoyed both hunting and fly fishing and loved being on the Hiawassee River with friends and family. His children remember him as a devoted father and best friend who graced their lives with his charm and dignity. His son’s fondest memory recalls his father calling from his drift boat “Way to go Rooster” when Hill laid out the perfect cast. He was a gregarious person who made friends easily, loved to tell amusing stories, and left everyone laughing.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12 at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Ridley Hall.
