Althea Johnson Dennis, age 92, died Monday, March 4, 2019 in Albertville, Alabama.
She was born on May 20, 1926, to Frank and Velma Johnson in Conecuh County. She has been a resident of Albertville since 1951. After graduating from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University, she worked as a social worker at the Welfare Department, now Department of Human Resources, in Conecuh, Madison and Marshall Counties. Later she was employed by the Marshall and Albertville Educational Systems, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Althea was preceded in death by her husband, William Ned Dennis; her parents Frank and Velma; her sisters Gertrude Kelley and Jeanette Stephan; and her brothers Frank Jr. and Howard Johnson.
She is survived by a son John Dennis and his wife Debby; and daughter Nancy Hopewell and her husband Bill; and four grandchildren Timothy Alan Dennis and wife Lisa; Kathryn Marie Dennis; Ashley Elizabeth Crosland and husband John David; and Elizabeth Dennis Hopewell; and one great-grandchild James William Crosland.
Funeral services are to be held at the Adams-Brown Services Funeral Home at 10:00 am, Friday, March 8, 2019.
