Alta Huddleston Meadows – Obituary

After ninety-two years, Alta Huddleston Meadows, lifelong resident of the Whittentown Community and well known for her commitment and development of the Whittentown Community, passed quietly into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Monday morning October 31, 2017 in the comfort of her home.
Funeral Services celebrating the Christian life of Mrs. Meadows will be at 11 AM Thursday November 2 at her beloved Whittentown Baptist Church with Bro. Rickey Glidwell officiating assisted by Bro. Dewayne Floyd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born June 9, 1925 in Tippah County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mamie Whitten Huddleston. Mrs. Meadows received her education in the Tippah County School System and was married to Hubert Lester Meadows, retired farmer, who preceded her in death on September 25, 1997.
Known as being active throughout her life, Mrs. Meadows was involved with the family farm before becoming employed as a Dietician at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley and in food service at Ripley Elementary School before her retirement.
Mrs. Meadows will be remembered for having been a faithful and active member of Whittentown Baptist Church and taught the Children’s Sunday School Class for many years. She leaves a legacy of faith, devotion and love for family, friends, church and community.
Visitation for Mrs. Meadows will continueThursday until service time at the church.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Wanda Nell Cissom (Kenneth) and Bobby Meadows (Belinda) both of Ripley, three grandchildren, Angela Bradford (Burt), Tracie Hopkins (Dale) and Randy Cissom (Angie), all of Ripley, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Mrs. Meadows was also preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Meadows, Jr., two sisters, Mildred Sanderson and Mable Sanderson and a brother, Bud Huddleston.
