Alois L. “Sis” Ware, 82, died Friday, February 09, 2018, at home after an extended illness. She was born on April 9, 1935 in Tupelo, MS to the late Austin Roberts and Evie Mayes Roberts. She attended school in Tupelo, Mississippi and graduated high school from Jewel Academy and Seminary in Nashville, TN. She lived almost 20 years in Los Angeles, CA where she pastored one of the bands in her early years at the Church of the Living God. She returned to Tupelo in 1984, where she did evangelistic work upon her arrival and where she last resided. She accepted Christ at a very early age and was called to the ministry and was an Ordained Minister.
Sis lived her life to please the Lord, and her four girls were her life. She was affectionately called “Mommy” by her girls. She loved her visits from her two great grandchildren Austyn and August who would assist their Nana in walking. Sis was known by many for her loving heart. She abundantly loved the Lord and everyone; and was always offering a comforting word, giving a “thinking of you” card, saying “I love you baby” to everyone she came in contact with. She has passed this on to her girls and taught them to serve the Lord and love everyone.
Sis was very creative and loved to decorate and go antique shopping with her oldest and youngest daughters Collette Dixon and Janel Smith. Being a minister, Sis spent much of her time studying her Bible and seeking her Lord. She also loved to write and had begun writing a book prior to becoming ill.
Her parents and three brothers Clemmie Mayes, James Lee Luster, and Floyd Roberts who had gone on before her welcomed “Sis” home. She leaves to cherish her precious memories four daughters Bernadine “Collette” Dixon, Valda Dixon, Lisa Thompson all of Tupelo, Mississippi and Janel (Clifford) Smith of Guntown, Mississippi who will miss her dearly. She leaves a loving mark on her two grandchildren, Cornelius J. Thompson, Jr. of San Francisco, CA and Tina Thompson Pounds of Tupelo, MS and four grandchildren of the heart who she loved. She had two great-grandchildren Austyn R. Pounds and August E. Pounds of Tupelo, and thirteen great-grandchildren of the heart. She was an avid dog lover and considered them all part of the family, leaving behind three granddogs, and a large host of nieces, nephews, and many other love ones and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. There are no public services.
