Almond Ray Pruitt – Obituary

Almond Ray Pruitt, age 87, of Florence, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Floyd E. ‘Tut’ Fann Veterans’ Facility. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War and was a retired front-end and brake specialist. He was a member of Cross Point Church of Christ.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Louise Pruitt; and a brother, Raymond (Buddy) Pruitt. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jennie Levon Bogus Pruitt; daughters, Beverly Ashby (Ray) and Debra Rich (Steve); son, Dennis Pruitt (Lisa); grandchildren, Tallie Johnson (Brad), Evan Ashby (Brandi), Torie Burcham (Bryan), Elliott Ashby (Ivie) and Payton Pruitt (McKinzie). He was also survived by his eight great-grandchildren, Will and Tanner Johnson, Anna Jane and Abbie Burcham, Lennon and Teagan Ashby, and Ada Ashby and Brie Evans.

Visitation will be Monday, November 6, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Piney Grove Cemetery in Florence, with Clifford Miles officiating.

Pallbearers will be Payton Pruitt, Evan Ashby, Elliott Ashby,Will Johnson, Tanner Johnson and Bryan Burcham.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Southern Care Hospice and the staff at Floyd E. ‘Tut’ Fann Veterans’s Facility, and all of those who helped care for him. A special thanks to Deonna Russell for her loving care.
