Alma Williams Hestla, age 90, of Tuscumbia, died Thursday, October 18, 2018. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, October 22, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Larry Smart will officiate. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in Hopewell Cemetery, Hanceville, AL.
Mrs. Hestla was born July 9, 1928, in Cullman, to Doyle and Bunie Williams. In 1943, she married Walter M. Hestla. When the Walter and Alma moved to Tuscumbia in 1955, they joined Calvary Baptist Church, where they served faithfully. Alma was a member of the Love Sunday School Class, and helped start Calvary Kindergarten and Daycare in 1970. She served as teacher and assistant director at the day care for over 25 years. After retirement, Mrs. Hestla served as a volunteer at Helen Keller Hospital. Of all of her achievements, Alma was best known for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hestla was also preceded in death by her daughter, Vanessa Gullett, and brothers, Melvin, Marvin, and Dwight Williams.
Survivors include daughter, Vickey Moon (Davis); grandchildren, Mitchel Moon (Tashina), Erin Moon Pounders (Dustin), Whitney Gullett Fowler (Matt), and Christy Gullett Evans (Jimmy); great grandchildren, Elisa Ruth and John Davis Pounders, Blakely Kirk Evans, Beckett Todd Fowler, and Baby Evans due spring of 2019; and brother, Dillard Williams (Lucille).
Pallbearers will be Blank Blank, Blank Blank, Blank Blank, Blank Blank, Blank Blank, and Blank Blank.
The family extends their gratitude to Cottage of the Shoals for their loving care of Mrs. Hestla.

Mrs. Hestla was a fine citizen and great mother. The community is blessed that she lived a full life. Our prayers are with the family.
