Alma Rutland McWilliams – Obituary

Alma Rutland McWilliams, age 94, of Tuscumbia, died Sunday, July 09, 2017. Her visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 12 pm until 2 pm at Red Rock Church of Christ. Her service will immediately follow with David Conley and Anthony Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in Barton Cemetery.

Mrs. McWilliams was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmere, a wonderful cook, a hard worker, a seamstress, and a true servant. She was a member of Red Rock Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Tuscumbia Lioness Club, Tuscumbia Lions Club, Cherokee P.TA., Cherokee Library, Cherokee Study Club, a 4-H Club sponsor, and she helped start the Cherokee Clinic. She held state and national offices with the Home Demonstration Clubs. She was a Red Cross Volunteer and taught home nursing classes. Mrs. McWilliams loved her family, her church, and her community, and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Robert L. “Bob” McWilliams; sons, Dale McWilliams (Micki) and Chris McWilliams (Elizabeth); daughter, Patricia Daniel (Howard); sister, Lola Rutland Stinson; grandchildren, Bryan McWilliams (Theresa), Julie Walton (Steve), Jennifer Shull (Jim), Allison Roberts (Chris), and Amanda Parker (Matt); great grandchildren, Ben, Tucker, Maggie, Alexandra, Ethan, Emilee, and Ava; and special niece, Charlotte Rutland Bryant.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bryan McWilliams, Steve Walton, Jim Shull, Chris Roberts, and Matt Parker, and great grandsons, Ben Walton, Ethan Roberts, and Tucker McWilliams.
