Alma Jean Skinner, 80, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at her residence. Jean lived in the Cairo, Burnsville area her whole life. She was a member at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Burnsville and was a cook at Burnsville Headstart for over 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, boating, and spending time with her family. Jean was married to the love of her life, Lamar, for almost 62 years. Her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids were her pride and joy, and she was a wonderful mother and grandparent who was always there when needed most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
Jean is survived by her husband, Lamar Skinner; her daughters, Mary Ann Wright (Roger), Karen Watson (Mitchell), and Amy Bonds (Rob); her grandchildren, Kayla Jones (Brian), Kristen Taylor (Bradley), Justin Watson (Amanda), Morgan Wright, Brittany Skinner, Bailee Bonds, Hannah Bonds, Caleb Bonds, and Benjamin Bonds; her great-grandchildren, Clairissa Brasel, Hudson Jones, Watson Jones, Sawyer Watson, Sarah Kathryn Jones, and Emma Watson; her sisters, Mary Quay South, Ann Browder, Nadine Walker (Ronnie), and Rita Brown; her brother, Tullon Woodruff (Joyce); her brother-in-law, Harold Skinner; sisters-in-law, Brenda Skinner and Geneva Skinner; and her dear friend, Rhonda White (Travis).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eula and James Rube Woodruff; her in-laws, Roy and Esther Skinner; her son, Jeffery Skinner; her great-grandson, Spencer Watson; her brothers, Billy Woodruff, Walton Woodruff, and Wayne Woodruff; her sisters, Kathryn Williams, Louise Padgett, Ilene Lauderdale, Betty Ruth Pounders, and Sue McCulloch; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Cutshall Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Visitation will continue from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Bro. Justin Watson and Bro. Chris Webb. Pallbearers include Caleb Bonds, Benjamin Bonds, Rob Bonds, Bradley Taylor, Roger Wright, and Mitchell Watson. Interment will be in Rowland Mills Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Donations of blankets and snacks may be made in her honor to the West Clinic in Corinth.
