Allisen Denise Cox (Brooks), 56, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021. Allisen was born in Arab, AL on April 14, 1965 to James Douglas and Joy Tidmore Brooks. She was married to Charlie Cox on August 6, 1999 and they have been happily married ever since. Allisen and Charlie had a full life together and have been living in San Antonio since 2007. Allisen was the mother of three sons and grandmother to two grandsons.
Allisen graduated from Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL and then attended Florida State University. She worked most of her career for the Internal Revenue Service in Huntsville, AL until moving away in 2005. Even though Allisen moved to Virginia and then later settled in San Antonio, TX, her heart always stayed in Alabama.
Allisen loved her time spent with family and friends. She was blessed with a large group of friends from every place she worked, lived, or even visited. Allisen was a die-hard Alabama football fan and would be seen regularly in her University of Alabama hats and shirts. Her other passion was NFL football. She became the family expert in fantasy football and spent hours each week doing research on the different players, usually finishing in the top two positions at the end of each season.
Allisen was preceded in death by her father, James Douglas Brooks. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Cox; mother, Joy McIntyre; her three sons, Tyler Cox, Nathan Brown, and Chris Anderson; her brother and sister-in-law, Clay and Sherry Buie; her grandsons, Avery Brown and Gunnar Anderson; her nieces, whom she loved like daughters, Haley Elise, Lakyn Wynne, and Alanie Joy Buie; her parents-in-law, Ellen and Charles Cox; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ellen and Larry Hill.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home at 2320 Bob Wallace Ave. SW, Huntsville, AL 35805. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6 in the funeral home chapel.
