Mrs. Allie Marilyn Freeman, age 89 of Wadley, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Lineville Health and Rehab. Per her family’s wishes, all services will be private.
Mrs. Freeman was a lifelong resident of Wadley and Clay County. She attended Mellow Valley High School, worked at the Lanett Cotton Mill and for Clegg’s Manufacturing Sewing Plant in Wadley for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and cleaning, and listening to Gospel Music. Mrs. Freeman loved to spend time with her family, whether it was driving to her grandchildren’s ball games, or just to drive around looking for historic home places and old cemeteries. She was described as quiet and shy, but humble, energetic, and was always on the go. She was an early riser, and whenever she spoke, you know she was telling the truth. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by one daughter, Darlene Adamson (Kenneth) of Wadley; one granddaughter, Jessica McGill (David) of Wadley; five great-grandchildren: Averi, David Ajay, Ace, Abel, and Arek McGill.
She was preceded in death by her parents: S.W. and Jewel Moncus Caldwell; her husband, Argus Freeman; two sisters: Margaret Jones and Carolyn Clark; and her brother and sister in law: Lynn and Mary Ruth Caldwell.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Our mama and nanny was the best we could have ever asked for. WE WERE BLESSED. She loved us with her whole heart. As long as she was able, she was usually in the midst of us, cheering us on, taking care of us, and sometimes getting on to us if she thought we needed it, but most of all, she prayed for us… She was the most precious, kind, and loving Christian Mama and will be missed more than words can express.
The family wants to acknowledge and thank The Lineville Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice for the care and love you gave to our precious loved one.
In lieu of Flowers, the family would prefer donations be made towards the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery fund.
