Allen Wayne Nolan – Obituary

Allen-Nolan-1431178419Dr. Allen Wayne Nolan, age 74, native of Maury County, passed away on Friday May 8, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Nolan was born on April 26, 1941 in Maury County, Tennessee to the late Johnny James Nolan and Lela Fuller Nolan. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. He received his doctorate degree in counseling, psychology, and theology. Dr. Nolan helped many and ministered to all. He preached services everywhere, including Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. Dr. Nolan also served as a chaplain at Keeneland and Church Hill Downs; he was able to start several prayer programs for jockeys. One of his favorite quotes was, “May you be in Heaven an hour before the Old Devil knows you are gone.” In addition to preaching, Dr. Nolan loved music and played several instruments in several bands. He loved animals. Over the years, he had many nicknames including Boliver Jason Shaggnasty. He loved his family and his grandkids were his shining stars.

The family will visit with friends on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m and from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Dr. Nolan is survived by his daughters Dorothy “Dorey” Lee Nolan of Murfreesboro, Teresa Nolan of Sheperdsville, Kentucky, Sandy Nolan Carr of Columbia, Tennessee, and Melissa Nolan of Madison, Tennessee; son Robert “Butch” Nolan of Sheperdsville, Kentucky; grandchildren Jessica Grimes, Jeff Carr, Nina Carr, Bayley Nolan, and Andrew Nolan; great-grandchildren Lilith Ann and Lela Annette Carr; sisters Evelyn Craig and Betsy (Tommy) Isabell; and several nieces and nephews.

Dr. Nolan was preceded in death by his wife Janice Nolan; brothers John Nolan and James Edward Nolan; sisters Dorothy Lemay, Irene Warren; and parents Johnny and Lela Nolan; and first wife Mildred Ann Linneman.

Pallbearers will be Jared Sanders, Tommy Isabell, Andy Isabell, Shawn Isabell, Jeff Carr, Nina Carr, Jon “Yukon” Inman, Robert “Butch” Nolan, and James Trentham.
