FLORENCE – The man who is assused of killing a 13 year old Central High School student in a hit-and-run incident Monday night is in custody.
James O’Neal Wilson, 42, is in the Florence/Lauderdale Detention Center. No bail amount has been set. Among the charges Wilson is facing, he is facing felony leaving the scene of an accident charges.
Wilson allegedly struck 13 year old Da’Santo Ingram Monday night around 7:30 pm on Hendrix Road, just outside the boy’s home. Reports indicate that Wilson’s truck was heading east on Hendrix, also known as County Road 457, when it ran off the road and struck the youth. The Ingram boy was taking a bag of garbage out to the road when he was struck.
The Alabama State Trooper Office in Sheffield is investigating. Sources say more charges are pending. Another source indicates that Wilson has been placed on hold by The Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office for other possible charges.
