Alleged bad choice lands Leighton man in Colbert County jail

james kenneth prattTUSCUMBIA – Colbert Sheriff Ronnie May says the man who is accused of sexually assaulting a Tuscumbia woman is still incarcerated. James Kenneth Pratt, of Leighton is being held on a charge of rape. The 38 year old is accused of entering a dwelling on East 6th Street, and assaulting a woman who had fallen asleep on her sofa. The arrest report says her boyfriend was sleeping in another room.

Police say the victim managed to get free. The commotion woke up the boyfriend, who challenged Pratt in the hallway of the residence. Pratt was detained until Sheriff’s Deputies could respond.

As Pratt was being led out of the residence, it was reported that he did apologize for his actions.

Mr. Pratt is being held in Colbert County jail on a $75-thousand bond.
